Traders said Monday's limit-up close in the Malaysian palm oil futures had been overdone triggering a downside correction on Tuesday. "The market is very thin and it doesn't take much to move it in either direction," said one. At the close crude palm oil and RBD palm oil were both $2.50 down while palm olein was $10 to $7.50 lower. Coconut oil lost $10 to $15 on the day after Jan/Feb traded at $640 and $630 and Feb/Mar at $647.50 and $640 a tonne cif. Traders said there was no fundamental reason for the downturn in coconut oil. "We can only put it down to the thinness of the market," said one. Palmkernel oil closed $10 lower with no business reported. Dutch soy oil closed 2.50 to 1.50 guilders down while rape oil was two to one guilders down, traders said business was slow owing to the Armistice Day public holiday in France and Belgium.
