"People appear to be willing to pay the higher prices for now, but it's a very thin market and trade is hand-to-mouth," said one trader. Others said players on both sides of the market did not trust current price levels. "It would not take much to turn the market on its head," one said. At the close Dutch soyoil was two guilders to 0.50 guilders down while rape oil was unchanged to one guilders lower. "We've hardly seen a buyer all day, it's been very boring," said one trader. A rebound by the Malaysian ringgit had little impact on the international palm oil market, where prices were little changed from Tuesday's close. Crude palm oil closed unchanged to $2.50 up after Nov traded at $530 a tonne cif. Among products RBD palm oil and olein were unchanged to $2.50 down. Nov RBD palm oil traded at $515 a tonne in a switch with Jan at $525. Nov traded at $517.50 in a switch with Jan olein at $550. Coconut oil closed with sellers $7.50 to $5 up after Nov/Dec and Dec/Jan traded in as switch with a $15 spread. Palmkernel oil closed $15 up across the board with no business reported.
