However, most players remain wary of the Chicago market. "We have these weather games ever year at this time, but at the end of the day it's meaningless because we can never find out what is going on until the crop comes in," said one trader. Soft oils lost a further guilder on the day while palm oil prices were trimmed by around $2.50 a tonne. "Chicago isn't that important to the palm oil market. We may see some reaction when the KLCE opens, but the overriding factor is going to be the ringgit/dollar rate," said another trader. At the close of business in Europe Dutch soy oil was 2.50 guilders down in a tradeless market while rape oil was 1.25 to 1.50 guilders lower after Aug fetched 105.50, Sep/Oct 105.75, Nov/Jan 106 and Feb/Apr 106.75 guilders a 100 kilos all prior to the Chicago opening. Crude palm oil closed unchanged to $5 down while products were $5 to $12.50 lower with no further business reported.
