However, business has been low key with many players attending a vegetable oil convention in Budapest. Chicago soy futures collapsed on Monday following the news that the USDA had left it's soybean carryover figure unchanged at 125 million bushels. European traders said a stronger dollar limited the downside of the market and many people were reluctant to follow Chicago too closely as they felt the fall had been overdone. A forecast by Malaysian palm oil plantation houses of an increase in output during April of eight percent over March was another bearish factor in the market. Crude palm oil closed unchanged to $2.50 down after bargain hunters, during the morning, lifted prices of there low's for the day with a mix of outright trading and switching. Products finished $2.50 to $5 lower with no further business reported during the afternoon. Coconut oil closed $5 up to unchanged after Aug/Sep traded at $650 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil finished unchanged to $7.50 down on a neglected market. The soft oil sector closed with soy oil 0.75 to one guilders down and rape oil one to 1.50 guilders lower. In light trading Jun soy oil fetched 102.75 and Jun/Jul 103 guilders while 104.75 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill was paid for May/Jul rape oil.
