Higher Chicago futures at the opening on Friday lifted palm oil off the bottom, but the outlook for the oils remain bearish. Data released by Malaysian private forecaster Ivan Wong appeared to confirm the bearish trend in palm oil with output at end-February forecast at 502,000 tonnes, down 13 percent against Wong's last estimate of a 21 percent drop in production. Wong put end-February stocks at 670,000 tonnes against 696,272 tonnes at end-January and exports at 440,000 tonnes. At the close in Europe crude palm oil was $2.50 down with no business reported. Products finished the session unchanged to $5 down with no further business reported. Among lauric oils coconut oil closed $5 up to unchanged after Apr/May traded at $745 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil was unchanged to $2.50 up. Soy oil closed 1.25 guilders up, around one guilder down from midday, after Mar traded at 102.50, May/Jul at 106, and Aug/Oct at 107 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Rape oil sellers were 1.25 to 1.75 guilders up after May/Jul traded at 106 and 106.25 and Aug/Oct at 106.25 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill.
