Mixed selling pressured the most-active May contract to its downside target of 10.75 cents early, but short-covering carried prices off the lows by midsession. A dearth of fundamental news contributed to the session's dull tone, market analysts said. Technically, a move under support could fuel additional losses and pressure May to 10.50 cents. Resistance was seen at the key psychological 11.00 cent mark and then at the recent high of 11.09 basis May. Players said the close near the lows positions the market for a test of support on Thursday. The spot month ended down 0.15 to 10.77 cents a lb, having ranged from 10.88 to 10.75 cents. The back months settled 0.10 to 0.07 cent lower. Volume was estimated at 19,020 lots compared with the official 13,513 lots Tuesday.
