Soft oils were quiet with buyers unwilling to pay crushers prices. "Crushers have the market and people are only paying their prices if they are desperate," said one trader. News that India is to increase its import tax on edible oil had no impact owing to the recent lack of Indian buying. At the close soy oil was one guilders down after May/Jul traded at 100.75 guilders while rape oil was one to two guilders lower in tradeless market. Crude palm oil finished $5 down to unchanged while products were $5 lower. Coconut oil closed $5 up to unchanged after Jan/Feb traded at $780, Feb/Mar at $770/72.50 and Mar/Apr at $760 and $762.50 a tonne cif.
