In the palm oil sector very little trading has gone on since Thursday of last week following the closure of the Malaysian markets for the Chinese Lunar New Year and the Moslem Eid al-Fitr holidays. However, business should start to return to normal on Wednesday when the Kuala Lumpur market reopens. "We hope business will start to return to normal, but the USDA crop report is due out on Wednesday, which could mean people will want to wait and see what that says,' said a trader. Palm oil prices were unchanged from midday at the close, but soft and lauric oils were drifting lower following the easier opening Chicago. At the close crude palm oil was $2.50 up to unchanged, but products were not quoted. Coconut oil sellers were $2.50 down to unchanged after Feb/Mar traded at $772.50 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil closed $2.50 lower. Dutch soy and rape oil sellers were 0.25 to 0.50 guilders down at the close in tradeless markets.
