Palm oil attracted little interest during the afternoon with many players feeling the market was overdone. "Palm oil has been nervous for the last couple of days, but that feeling has fizzled out during this afternoon. Noone is sure why, but they are saying the market has gone too high too fast this week," said a trader. Soft oils attracted a fair amount of interest during the day with dealers, shippers and consumers seen in the market. In the lauric oils dealer trading in coconut oil was the main feature of an otherwise quiet market. Crude palm oil cif Europe closed unchanged to $2.50 lower while products were $2.50 to $5 down with no further business reported. Coconut oil finished unchanged to $2.50 down after Dec/Jan traded at $795, Jan/Feb at $790, Feb/Mar at $780 and Mar/Apr at $767.50 and $765 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil closed $5 down and tradeless. Dutch soy oil closed 0.25 guilders down to 0.75 guilders up after Feb/Apr traded at 97.50 and May/Jul at 99 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Rape oil lost one to 0.50 guilders on the day after Feb traded at 96.50, 96.75 and 97 guilders, Mar/Apr fetched 97.50 and May/Jul 99 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill. Feb also traded in a switch with May/Jul with a spread of 1.25 guilders, however traders were unable to give further details.
