Prices ran up in this morning on commission house and light commodity fund buying, but steady producer selling above 120.00 cents a lb in the spot March contract prompted operators to take profits. March delivery fell 0.45 cent per lb on the day, to close at 118.90 cents, after ranging from 121.35 to 118.25. Second-position May also ended 0.45 cent lower, at 116.60 cents, while the outer months finished down 0.15 to 1.45. On the charts, traders pegged nearby March support at 117.50 cents, followed by 115.00 cents. To the upside, resistance was seen at 121.50 cents, then 124.00 cents. Traders expect coffee prices to trade in the near-term in a choppy fashion around current levels, but said the market may eventually come under some pressure, with speculators believed to be leaning heavily on the long side.
