Exhibition on Yugoslavia's history opens in Belgrade

Autor: half
BELGRADE, Dec 1 (Hina) - An exhibition called "Yugoslavia From the Beginning to the End: 1919-1990" was opened at the Yugoslav History Museum in Belgrade on Saturday.

The exhibition's aim is not to present a chronology of the most important events but to cover, in a modern, attractive and objective way, the most important phenomena and elements that characterised the states and societies on a territory that for more than seven decades bore the common name of Yugoslavia. It was prepared by a team of experts from the region.

The exhibition was opened by Serbian Culture Minister Bratislav Petkovic, who recalled that 94 years ago today South Slavic peoples founded a joint state in Belgrade which changed its name and sociopolitical structure a number of times in the following decades.

"Many historians think that on December 1, 1918 one of the most interesting and most complicated state experiments of the 20th century took place," he said.

The exhibition will stay open three months.
