Parliament amends police law

Autor: half
ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Friday amended the Police Law, postponing until 1 January 2015 the payment of higher severance packages to police officers.

The government, which sponsored the bill, said recently the Interior Ministry had no money for the severance payments which could average HRK 127,000 per officers or a total HRK 63.5 million for 500 officers.

Parliament ratified agreements with Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro on financing between the Croatian government and the European Commission on the 2011 IPA Cross-border Co-operation Programme.

Bills of amendments to the laws on local and regional government, local elections, and the Croatian qualification framework were sent into second reading.

The government's draft revised budget was added to the agenda.

Parliament will reconvene on Tuesday.
