ZAGREB, Nov 14
(Hina) - Rulings which the Appeals Chamber of the
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) may
deliver on Friday in the case of Croatian Generals Ante Gotovina and
Mladen Markac, who were sentenced by the trial chamber to 24 and 18
years respectively, can range from acquittals, if the appeals chamber
rules that there was no joint criminal enterprise, to the confirmation
of the trial chamber's guilty verdict for war crimes committed during
and after Operation Storm which crushed a Serb insurgency in central
and southern Croatia in the summer of 1995.
