The poor infrastructure at some border crossings significantly hampers work and checks, he told Dnevni Avaz daily's Sunday issue, hopeful that relevant institutions will set aside the funds necessary to upgrade the infrastructure.
Dumancic said that under a Council of Ministers decision, border crossings should have been modernised by this past February, but this was not done because money for that had not been set aside in the state budget.
He said the border police would need the support of all relevant Bosnian bodies in order to upgrade border checks, state border control, and the border infrastructure once Croatia joined the EU in July 2013.
Dumancic underlined the need to define protocols for traffic and transit through Neum and the identification of the state border.
Further cooperation with Croatia's relevant bodies is imperative to solve these issues, he said.
The border police is one of the few institutions whose work was commended in the European Commission's latest progress report on Bosnia.
