"It's a country with enormous economic potential both when it comes to investments and when it comes to trade," Jospovic told Croatian Television before travelling to Qatar on Sunday.
He said this was why he would be accompanied by a big Croatian delegation including First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Radimir Cacic, Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic and more than 40 successful business people.
Asked about the goal of the visit, Josipovic said it was to open investment channels and present Croatian companies to potential partners. "The channels of communication have been established, bilateral meetings agreed, and I expect the visit to be successful."
Asked if the construction of an LNG terminal on the Croatian island of Krk might be agreed, he said this was why Cacic was in the delegation. "That's a big project which depends on the government's policy. The government is interested in it and I hope there will be results."
Asked which Croatian industries had the most prospects for landing deals in Qatar, Josipovic mentioned the food industry, tourism, and the manufacturing industry.
