Mufti Hasanovic and Bishop Kosic extend greetings for Kurban Bayram

Autor: Snježana Pezer
ZAGREB, Oct 23 (Hina) - In his message for the forthcoming Muslim holiday of Kurban Bayram on Friday October 26th, the head of the Islamic community in Croatia, Mufti Aziz Hasanovic, said that solidarity was the greatest value taught by Islam.

Reflecting on the state of affairs in the world where on the one hand children are dying of hunger and on the other, others are living in the lap o luxury, he said that "Islam rejects this gap and urges believers to help others in need".

It is necessary to adapt religious heritage in the context of the needs of time and space, he added.

"If we observe the institution of Kurban from a social aspect then we can see the true Islamic dimension of people helping each other regardless of their religious, national, racial or other affiliation", Mufti Hasanovic said.

He ended his greeting with the Muslim greeting Bajram Serif Mubarek Olsun.

President of the Council of the Croatian Bishops' Conference for Ecumenism and Dialogue, Sisak Bishop Vlado Kosic, sent his greetings to Mufti Hasanovic and Muslim believers on the occasion of Kurban Bayram.

"May your celebrations, as you share God's gifts together, be held in sincere respect, understanding and bond in goodness and may the Lord strengthen your steps toward dialogue and peace with other believers and people of good will", Bishop Kosic said.
