The president of Croatia's strongest opposition party, Tomislav Karamarko, met with te president of the EPP group in the EP, Joseph Daul, at an EPP summit in Bucharest.
After the talks, Daul confirmed that the EPP group in the EP would meet in Dubrovnik next spring in support of the completion of the ratification of Croatia's EU accession treaty and the efforts the HDZ had made in the accession process, the statement said.
Speaking to Croatia's RTL network from Bucharest, Karamarko said the HDZ did not feel criticised in Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic's statement that there was no doubt that his political opponents would behave the same as the members of his cabinet and would not speak ill of their political rivals.
"We are here at the EPP conference and are working on it so that Croatia enters the European Union on July 1 and I have to admit that the mood in the EPP is very good for Croatia," said Karamarko.
