Government discusses succession of ex-Yugoslavia's diplomatic property

ZAGREB, Sept 20 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Thursday adopted a resolution of the joint committee on the succession of the diplomatic and consular property of the former Yugoslavia which envisages the sale of a residence in New York and an embassy building in Bonn and the division of the money between Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia.

Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic said the two buildings were the most important such property. "They will be sold and the money divided."

Under the succession committee's conclusions of the division of the former federation's real estate, Croatia should also get a consulate general building in Santiago de Chile, a residence in Nairobi, an embassy building and residence in Khartoum, a residence on Madagascar, and an embassy building in Tunisia.

Croatia will get some money for the embassy building in Morocco which will go to Slovenia. An embassy building in Algeria would also be sold and the money divided between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said the building in New York was very valuable and that the money could be used to purchase what Croatia would need in Brussels.

Also today, the government adopted a report on compliance with the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights chapter of the European Union's acquis communautaire for the period between March 1 and September 14 this year.
