ZAGREB, Sept 17
(Hina) - Social Welfare and Youth Minister Milanka
Opacic on Monday visited the Dubrava branch of the Zagreb Welfare
Centre, the first to use the SocSkrb application which will link all
welfare institutions with the tax office and create a single register
and database on welfare beneficiaries in the country.
There are 250,000 welfare beneficiaries in Croatia, of whom 160,000 receive financial aid.
Asked about the most frequent irregularities in the system so far, Opacic said the Welfare Centre had no control over which people received benefits and how much.
The project was financed with a World Bank loan.
