The consortium, comprising Elka, Eurocable Group, Brodomerkur, Cotra and Wellmax, won an international tender HEP called in July. The cables are intended for the members of the HEP Group for their investment projects.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Economy Minister Radimir Cacic said the energy sector was neglected and therefore represented an opportunity for major investments.
Croatia is among the biggest energy importers and in order to change that, the incumbent government plans to invest EUR 2 billion in this sector, he said, adding that the electricity grid in Croatia was 40 years old on average and that this was a big chance for domestic producers to gain export references on the domestic market.
HEP CEO Zlatko Koracevic said today's agreement was an invitation to domestic producers to participate in tenders for the HRK 3.4 billion HEP planned to investment this year.
