Government says reconciliation process continues

Autor: itom
ZAGREB, Aug 23 (Hina) - The process of reconciliation between the government and four trade unions representing public sector employees who refused to signed amendments to the Basic Collective Agreement (TKU) will continue and a new meeting will be held on Monday, the government said in a statement on Thursday.

"A meeting to discuss the reconciliation process was held in the government headquarters today. It was agreed that the process will continue and the next meeting will be held on Monday, August 27," the government said briefly.

The participants in today's two-hour meeting did not address the press.

Four of the eight public-sector unions refused to sign an annex to the Basic Collective Agreement regulating certain material rights this and next year.

The unions of primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, university lecturers and scholars, and nurses refused to the sign the annex to the Basic Collective Agreement unless the government guaranteed them the retroactive payment of entitlements they were to have waived for the time being.

Representatives of the four unions that rejected the annex to the Basic Collective Agreement said that all the entitlements should be paid to their members at a later date and that in any other case their members should vote on it in a referendum.
