Ostojic said that according to estimates, the cuts under way should ensure supply until September 15.
"Every cut has negative connotations, but there have been remarkably few complaints from guests. The fact remains that our destinations look different, the grass is not green but yellow, which paints a negative picture, but reactions from guests and hotel company leaders indicate that this should not significantly affect future tourist visits to Istria County."
The minister said it was agreed with local leaders to draw up an operational programme for water supply in Istria to avoid threats to the tourist season, households and farming in the future.
Deputy county prefect Vedran Grubisic said the Sveti Anton spring, which can provide up to 250 litres of water per second, would be put to use by next summer, while long terms plan include the building of a reservoir and a canal for bringing water from the Gorski Kotar mountain region to the Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar coastal counties.
