The project is estimated at EUR 67.3 million, of which EUR 49.8 million would come from the EU and the rest from the state budget, Deputy Environmental and Nature Protection Minister Hrvoje Dokoza said at a press conference.
The project envisages the construction and reconstruction of an 80 kilometre sewerage system and four waste water treatment plants.
Assistant Agriculture Minister Drazen Kurecic said the project would improve living standards in the Porec area as well as advance tourism.
Mayor Edi Stifanic said this was one of the biggest projects in Porec in the last few decades, as 6,300 residents would be connected to the sewerage system, adding that it was also important in terms of tourism and environmental protection.
The European Commission's evaluation of the project is expected by year's end, it was said.
