Veljko Kajtazi, the Roma representative in the Croatian parliament and the head of the organising committee for the observance of International Roma Holocaust Remembrance Day in Croatia, recalled the hardship and sufferings members of the Roma community experienced in WW II concentration camps.
Kajtazi called on the Jasenovac Memorial Park and on the Culture Ministry to see to it that a monument be erected at the Ustica cemetery next year.
In attendance were also Croatian state and local authorities and Branko Lustig, a prominent Croatian film producer and winner of two Academy Awards, who survived Auschwitz. according to a press release issued by Kajtazi.
