The competition included the Seychelles, France, the US and Slovenia, among others, and the award is all the more important because it is given by the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute in Germany.
The Zagreb Tourist Board recalled that a decade ago it was the only one in Croatia with brochures in Chinese, and said its website was also available in Chinese and that Zagreb had a licensed Chinese language guide.
In 2011, 10,240 Chinese tourists visited Zagreb, generating 13,805 nights, up 84 and 49 per cent respectively on the year.
Croatian tourism will be presented in Shanghai on April 23 at a workshop of Croatian, Slovenian and Chinese travel agencies.
