Addressing the press after the meeting, Mrsic said that the government's measure which makes it possible for young unemployed people to work for a year with all contributions paid and to receive a monthly wage of 1,600 kuna (213 euros), was designed for two groups: highly educated people who have never been employed and for small business owners for whom it will now be easier to take on trainees.
When asked about the possible loss of nearly 800 jobs after the US company CMC, which is leaving the Sisak steel mill, suspended natural gas deliveries to 27 companies in Sisak's Southern Industrial Zone, Mrsic said he believed the interested parties would reach an agreement and that layoffs would be avoided.
