ZAGREB, April 7 (Hina) - Croatia was ranked 6th in terms of camping prices in Europe, according to rankings compiled annually by Germany's ADAC camping guide, the Croatian Camping Union (KUH) said on Monday.

With the price of 36.38 euros per night, Croatia moved down one place from last year and recorded a 4.9 per cent increase of the average camping price.

For several years now, Italy has been the most expensive camping destination in Europe, with the price of 44.61 euros per night.

Switzerland is second (40.54 euros), Spain third (39.95 euros), Denmark fourth (37.26 euros), and France fifth (37.16 euros).

European camps have increased the average price by three per cent from 2011. In 2011, the year-on-year increase was 2.5 per cent.

This year, two adults with a 10-year-old child will spend 34.30 euros per night in a European camp in the main tourist season.

In its rankings, ADAC notes that camping in Germany is considerably cheaper than the European average at the price of 26.60 euros per night. Only Poland and Hungary are cheaper - 20 and 23.20 euros respectively.

KUH said that bookings for this year indicated good results.

Last year, Croatian camps accounted for 25.2 per cent of all tourist nights in Croatia - 15.2 million, the highest number of camp nights since 1989. Germans accounted for 32 per cent of the figure.
