BELA TONKOVIC INTERROGATED BY SERBIAN POLICE IN SUBOTICA

SUBOTICA, Dec 2 (Hina) - The head of the Democratic Union of Croats in Vojvodina, Bela Tonkovic, was interrogated at the Subotica Police Department on Wednesday. Political leaders of ethnic Hungarians in Vojvodina were also interrogated by Subotica police this week. Mr Tonkovic stated on Thursday that it was very hard to run a pre- election campaign in such conditions. The Croats in Vojvodina have decided to take part in the election in Serbia to prove that they can fight for their rights in a peaceful and democratic way, said Mr Tonkovic. 021650 MET dec 93
