ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - UNPROFOR considers that the agreements on
cease-fire signed by the Croatian authorities and the local Serbs
in UNPAs on the territory of Croatia are the significant progress
and an excellent example in the process of achieving a global
solution, UNPROFOR Head for Civil Affairs Mr. Cedric Thornberry
said at today's press-conference at the UNPROFOR base in Zagreb.
Mr. Thornberry also informed of the preparations for a cease-fire
agreement in Sector West.
He commented on the articles of the U.S. paper, "Washington
Post", according to which UNPROFOR intended to move its
Headquarters from Zagreb owing to the bad relations of the Croatian
public with UNPROFOR. Mr. Thornberry added that he was sorry to say
that the attitude toward the U.N. staff had changed. According to
UNPROFOR military police, some cases of abuses of UNPROFOR members
were registered in Zagreb. However, Mr.Thornberry concluded at the
press-briefing, UNPROFOR did not plan to leave this beautiful
Croatian capital.
