ZAGREB, Nov 14 (Hina) - After his meeting with the President Tudjman the
special envoy of the Russian President, Mr. Vitalij Curkin said that the
Federation of Russia would support the demand of the Republic of Croatia
forwarded to the Security Council, that the protected areas be established
in the Croatian enclaves in Central Bosnia.
Commenting on the Russian initiative to lift the sanctions imposed on
Serbia and Montenegro, providing that the Bosnian Serbs should sign the
peace plan on Bosnia-Herzegovina, Curkin said:
"I was ensuring President Tudjman that a solution to the issue of B-H and
lifting of sanction against Serbia and Montenegro might create conditions
for the solution of the issue of UNPAs," adding that "if the sanctions
might be prolonged and further connected with the issue of UNPAs in
Croatia, this could make situation worse."
Mr. Vitalij Curkin will leave Zagreb for Rome and Athens in order to get
consultations about these issues.
