DELEGATION OF CROATIAN PARLIAMENT RETURNS FROM STRASBOURG

Autor:
ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - Delegation of the Croatian Parliament headed by Parliament President Stipe Mesic returned today from a two-day visit in Strasbourg, where they visited the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Upon return in Zagreb, Mesic stressed that the delegation was invited to Strasbourg by invitation of the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Miguel Angel Martinez. He added that the meeting was preceded by an initiative of a group of delegates of the Assembly, which asked that Croatia give explanations to a number of concrete issues. "We gave answers to all the questions in which we explained the Croatian situation, and I believe that all the explanations were accepted", said Mesic. "Now we can talk only on how to obtain full membership, and that is possible only if we achieve compatibility between the Croatian and European regulations, and if we correct certain things we are not satisfied with", Mesic stated. The Croatian delegation was asked questions concerning B-H "because they believe that Croatia has influence on Croats in B-H, particularly on Herzeg-Bosnia". In that aspect, Mesic said that he took upon himself the task that the Parliament would send a delegation to Sarajevo and Herzeg-Bosnia. Mesic emphasized that the Croatian delegation met with the delegation of B-H Parliament headed by Miro Lazovic. He said that the delegations agree on the causes of the crisis and the very nature of the war in B-H. "We only do not agree on the statement that it is a matter of divided responsibility", Mesic said. (end) m-jt 041902 MET nov 93
