ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign
Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Mate Granic, on Thursday
received the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, General
Vigleik Eide, the Director of the UNPROFOR Office for Civil
Affairs, Cedric Thornberry, and the Chief of the UNHCR Mission in
Croatia, Jacques Mouchet, said a statement issued by the Croatian
Foreign Ministry.
The talks revolved around the serious humanitartian situation in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, which has dramatically worsened in the last
few days.
Minister Granic informed the guests of a request that an urgent
session of the UN Security Council be convened and that steps be
taken to urgnetly and permanently protect the areas inhabited by
Croats in central Bosnia, currently besieged by Moslem forces.
Minister Granic requested urgent assistance for the refugees who
had fled the Vares area and additional aid to Croatia so that it
could provide shelter for the growing number of refugees.
Minister Granic also requested that plans be made as soon as
possible for the delivery of humanitarian aid to all in need.
