ZAGREB, Dec 14 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Dr. Mate Granic
today met the executive secretary of the Conference on Security and
Cooperation in Europe (CSCE), Dr. Istvan Gyarmati.
Under decision by the CSCE Committee of Senior Officials at
the 28 November urgent session, Gyarmati in capacity of a special
envoy of the CSCE chairman is obliged to prepare a report on the
situation in the Bihac pocket, which would be submitted to the CSCE
Standing Committee.
Minister Granic informed Mr. Gyarmati of the political
situation, particularly of the consequences of the Serb onslaught
on Bihac for Croatia's peace efforts.
He pointed out Croatia's flexibility and cooperation in the
efforts made by the international communities so far, a statement
by the Croatian Foreign Ministry said.
He stressed that UN Protection Force showed again its
inefficiency in Bihac, and NATO air raids were just symbolic.
Croatian Foreign Minister welcomed the CSCE endeavors to
participate actively in solving the crisis in the region.
Mr. Gyarmati said that Belgrade's recognition of the Republic
of Croatia within its UN-enshrined borders was a precondition for a
success in the peace process.
He expressed gratitude to Croatia for its constructive
activities within the CSCE.
