ZAGREB, Dec 8 (Hina) - There were two cases of the cease-fire's
violation in Croatia on Wednesday, a UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR)
spokesman, Paul Risley, today said in Zagreb.
"The Serb side at Nijemci, UNPA Sector East, fired several
shells, and the Croatian side at Novigrad, UNPA Sector South, is
believed to have fired several bullets from small arms. One
explosion of the shell was also registered there," Risley said.
French and American photo-journalists, who were detained by
Croatia's rebel Serbs from Monday to Wednesday night, arrived in
Zagreb.
One of the two said they had been beaten up by people who did
not wear badges of Serb paramilitaries from UNPAs of Croatia and
who claimed to have arrived from Belgrade.
Asked about opening the Zagreb-Lipovac (ex Zagreb-Belgrade)
highway's section through UNPA West under the Dec. 2 Economic
Agreement between the Croatian Government and local Serbs from
UNPAs, Risley replied that UNPROFOR and UN Civil Police had done
all preparations, and it was now up to the two sides to decide when
the highway should be opened.
