KOSCHNIK CALLS ON CROAT AND MOSLEM LEADERS TO BE CLEAR-HEADED

MOSTAR, Dec 2 (Hina) - "The Croat and Moslem political leaders have to sort it out what kind of federation they want," Mostar's European Union Administrator, Hans Koschnik, told a news conference today. "When they're clear on that, problems in Mostar will be solved much quicker," he said. The newly-formed Bosnian Federation's main problems were the structure of municipalities and towns and the setting up of joint police patrols. Koschnik told reporters about his recent trip to the Hague, where he met EU foreign and defence ministers. "I asked them to use their influence and pressure the Serbs," Koschnik said, adding that he had also drawn attention to the looming humanitarian catastrophe in Bihac. "The ministers must solve the Bihac military problem," Koschnik said. Koschnik also spoke of his visit to Washington, where he attended the NATO assembly. "I gave two lectures - one on the situation in Mostar and the other on the military and security situation in Bosnia and the Balkans," Koschnik said. "I told them that the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina will solve many problems," he said. Commenting on the effectiveness of the arms embargo, Koschnik pointed out that "Serbs had artillery, Croats had defensive weapons and Moslems had modern defensive weapons," none of which was manufactured in either Serbia or Bosnia.
