SARAJEVO, Nov 15 (Hina) - UN military observers today reported
heavy fighting near the Moslem-held town of Bihac in western
Bosnia.
Serb infantry forces, backed by heavy artillery fire, were
attacking Skocaj, a village three to four kilometres south of Bihac
on the edge of the UN-designated safe zone, UN spokesman Koos Sol
told a Sarajevo press conference.
The intensity of attacks was such that UN military observers
had to withdraw from the area.
UN sources also reported continued fighting on the Grabez
plateau, saying that Serb forces managed to retake most of the area
lost in recent battles but that the Bosnian government army still
controlled certain strategic points of the plateau.
Sol said Serbs today resumed shelling the Tuzla safe zone in
northeastern Bosnia, with at least one artillery shell landing
close to the Tuzla Hotel. Sarajevo radio said the attack killed one
person and wounded two.
Occasional detonations and small arms fire were heard in
central Sarajevo throughout the day. The UN believed it was a usual
exchange of fire along the lines of separation between the Bosnian
army and Serb forces.
