KOSCHNIK, SILADZIC MEET IN SARAJEVO

Autor:
SARAJEVO, Nov 4 (Hina) - Bosnian Premier Haris Silajdzic today met Mostar European Union Administrator Hans Koschnik, in Sarajevo. The normalisation of life in Mostar was progressing too slow, Silajdzic said after the talks. He urged EU members to use their influence to at least ensure free movement in the entire town. Discussing the problems in the establishment of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Silajdzic said it was sometimes difficult to implement even those measures that had the Government's seal of approval. He cited the example of Mostar authorities opposing the construction of a federal customs office in Doljani. Koschnik identified one of the most important tasks as introducing European police units to guarantee the safety of all Mostar citizens. He said the return of refugees to Mostar should begin as soon as possible. But before this happened, it was necessary to return houses to 40 percent of Mostar citizens who became refugees in their own town. They would only be able to return home after ethnic cleansing stopped in other parts of Bosnia. Koschnik said he would outline his ideas for normalising Mostar at the next NATO meeting.
