WASHINGTON, Oct 15 (Hina) - A Washington association called
"Croatian Democracy Project" (CDP) has become a major co-operator
to "America's Development Foundation" (ADF) in a three-year
undertaking in assistance to Croatia's non-governmental societies
in the field of legal advice and human rights of refugees,
displaced persons and minorities.
The ADF works under control of US Administration's "Agency for
International Development".
The head of the CDP office in Zagreb, Ms. Tia Pausic, is
appointed also as the ADF representative in the Croatian capital.
The three-year project is devised for offering help to the
society of Croatian lawyers, Documenta Croatica, the Croatian anti-
war association, the society of mothers of the missing persons from
Vukovar and others.
The offices for direct aid are to open in Croatian cities of
Zagreb, Osijek, Rijeka and Split.
The project is a first direct step of US Administration in
supporting development of democratic institutions in Croatia.
Since the first democratic elections in Croatia the CDP had
been a pioneer in programmes on human rights, high education,
establishing civil society, market reforms and humanitarian aid,
the head of the CDP, Mr. Max Primorac, said.
