SPLIT, Oct 15 (Hina) - The second anniversary of the opening of
Split Heliport was marked today in this southern Croatian city.
The one-million-German mark-worth heliport was built as part of the
Split Hospital facilities two years ago by voluntarily raised
funds.
More than three thousand sick and wounded from the southern
Croatian fronts and central Bosnia passed the heliport to the
hospital in medevacs during the past two years.
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman's envoy Admiral Davorin Kaic
addressed the gathered guests at today's ceremony saying days are
now behind Split and Croatia when three helicopters transporting 60
wounded used to land at the heliport at the same time.
He expressed hopes the aggressors eventually realized they
could not occupy Croatia and force its people to succumb.
