ZAGREB, Oct 4, (Hina) - If UNPROFOR failed to implement UN
resolutions, then NATO should take over UNPROFOR's role, Croatia's
deputy foreign minister Ivo Sanader, said today.
Sanader was speaking at memorial conference in Sofia for the
late Manfred Woerner, formerly NATO's chief secretary.
Sanader took part in the memorial conference titled
'Partnership for Peace and NATO in the Balkans' as President Franjo
Tudjman's personal envoy, according to a Croatian Foreign Ministry
statement.
Sanader spoke of efforts Croatia was undertaking to resolve
peacefully, the crisis arising from the disintegration of
Yugoslavia, the statement said.
Sanader said a crucial factor for resolving the crisis was
that countries established from the former Yugoslavia mutually
recognise and accept each other.
He stressed that greater international effort was needed in
reintegrating Croatia's UNPROFOR protected areas.
Sanader also informed conference participants of Croatia's
preparations for the Partnership for Peace Program.
