ZAGREB, Sep 5 (Hina) - Fifty-six percent of elementary schools and
fifty-four percent of high schools went on strike in the morning
shift today, said the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Education.
The data does not include three counties (the counties of
Split-Dalmatia, Dubrovnik-Neretva and Istria) where a new school
year is beginning next week because of the tourist season.
The Government is still stating that it will not negotiate
with the trade unions, since it fulfilled all obligations towards
them, and that it will organize classes in elementary and high
schools within the framework of its competence, said the Ministry
of Culture and Education.
