ZAGREB, Sep 1 (Hina) - Ahead of Holy Father's visit to Croatia,
today's daily VJESNIK carries on the front page an article
headlined "Prayer for lasting peace in Croatia".
The paper brings an article on an irrevocable resignation of
chairman of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) county committee
Branimir Glavas.
"Is the buying of years of service annulled?", asks the paper
ahead of changes of the law on the labour relationship.
Aleksa Crnjakovic writes an article on the appointment of a
new secretary-general of the HDZ. The journalist calculates who
could replace Jure Radic: Milas, Valent or Bedenicic.
"Nacertanje can be buried!" (Nacertanije is a plan on a
Greater Serbia made by Ilija Garasanin in last century), says a
commentary by Stjepan Martinovic. He writes that the implementation
of a Great-Serbian project can be prevented by 'cold war', and not
only by using of weapons.
Vjesnik carries a report on the imprisonment of Edo Vencl in
Glina and Knin. He was captured by Serbs about 100 m from
UNPROFOR's check-point in sight of UN members.
Another Zagreb daily VECERNJI LIST brings a text in connection
with the annulment of the Government's regulation on interest
taxation.
"Double papers of double policy," says the headline of a
commentary by Visnja Staresina. "After Karadzic's rejection of the
peace plan, the Contact Group's approach to drawing of the Bosnian
map entered a new stage which would probably lead to the partition
of Bosnia," thinks Staresina.
