ZAGREB, Aug 4 (Hina) - Five civilians were killed in Tuzla on
Wednesday when Bosnian Serb forces fired 12 shells at the northern-
Bosnian town, an UNPROFOR news conference in Zagreb was told today.
UNPROFOR spokesman Paul Risley reported increased military
activities throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina, particularly in Vares (30
km N. of Sarajevo) and around the northern-Bosnian corridor, where
UNPROFOR recorded 1,000 detonations yesterday.
Bosnian Serbs twice attempted to seize arms from the arsenals
within the Sarajevo exclusion zone but were stopped by French
UNPROFOR troops, Risley said.
Risley was asked about an article published in the Italian
daily La Repubblica. The article was quoting UNPROFOR Commander in
Bosnia-Herzegovina Gen. Michael Rose, who reportedly said he had
been ordered by the UN Secretary-General to withdraw his troops
from Bosnia within three months.
Risley said there must have been some mistake in translating
Gen. Rose's words.
