OSIJEK, Aug 2 (Hina) - Head of the Association of Displaced Persons
Mato Simic sent a letter to UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-
Ghali on Tuesday calling him to convene a special session of the
Security Counil that would deal with the situation in Croatia.
The Association demanded the implemenation of all UN Security
Council resolutions, which included the deployment of UN troops on
the international borders of Croatia and the creation of conditions
for the return of displaced persons to their homes, first in the
'pink' and 'blue' zones.
The Association of Displaced Persons blocked all official UN
crossing points in Croatia at 8 a.m. on July 1 in an effort to
force the Croatian government and UNPROFOR to find a solution to
displaced persons' demands.
On July 27, the Association reached an agreement with the
Croatian government to open seven official crossings and hand them
over to Croatian police.
The Association said displaced persons would continue to block
other crossings until they were given assurances that the rest of
their demands would be fulfilled. It urged the UN to put a stop to
the Serb exploitation of the Djeletovci oil well, to take control
of the Serb-held Kakma water installation and speed up the work of
a joint commission for missing and detained persons.
