SARAJEVO, July 16 (Hina) - UN spokesman in Sarajevo Major Rob
Annink said on Saturday that fighting in western Bosnia between the
Bosnian Army Fifth Corps and forces loyal to local leader Fikret
Abdic, and between the Fifth Corps and Serb forces continued today.
According to Annink, the fiercest clashes were registered in
the areas of the Grabez Plato and Otoka, east of the town of Bihac,
where Serbs launched yesterday an infantry attack.
Fighting was reported from the southern part of the Ozren
battlefield, northern Bosnia.
Early this morning the UNPROFOR Jordanian Battalion, which is
deployed in the Tuzla area (north-eastern Bosnia), registered four
detonations of tank shells near the airport.
Talking about the situation in Sarajevo, Annink said that a
civilian was killed from sniper in the section of Alipasino Polje
yesterday. The sniper fire was opened from the direction of the
Serb stronghold in Nedzarici.
