ZAGREB, July 6 (Hina) - Displaced persons from the occupied towns
of Stara Gradiska, Gornji Bogicevci and Okucani on Wednesday
extended the blockade to all byroads leading to UN Sector West,
after discovering that UNPROFOR used them instead of major routes
to avoid roadblocks.
Displaced persons from UNPA South on Wednesday blocked a
UNPROFOR checkpoint on the Pakovo Selo-Zitnic road in Sibenik
County.
In Sisak area (50 km S. of Zagreb) a vehicle driven by members
of the Ukrainian battalion last night forced their way through
roadblocks at Nebojan, but were stopped a few miles later, at a
pontoon bridge across the Kupa River, which was also blocked. The
vehicle was directed back to UNPA North. UNPROFOR helicopters fly
over the blocked roads several times a day.
Nationwide protests against UNPROFOR's inefficiency, staged by
the Union of Refugees of Croatia, began on July 1 and will last
until the expiry of the UNPROFOR mandate on September 30.
