SISAK/PAKRAC, July 1 (Hina) - The displaced persons from the region
of Banija (UNPA North) will hinder movement of vehicles of U.N.
Protection Force (UNPROFOR), U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees
(UNHCR) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)
from 17 hrs today at the road from Sisak to the occupied town of
Petrinja and the road from Sisak to Glinska Poljana.
In the appeal of the displaced persons' community to the
displaced persons and inhabitants of Sisak-Moslavina County to join
the protest it is underlined that the displaced persons are
embittered and both physically and psychologically exhausted form
the three-year exile. The appeal also emphasizes their request that
the U.N. resolution on the control of borders of the
internationally recognized Republic of Croatia should be
implemented fully.
The mayor of the Pakrac municipality, Marijan Delac, informed
journalists today that citizens of Pakrac did not impede the
movement of the UNPROFOR vehicles, but they expressed their
dissatisfaction with U.N. peace keepers since UNPROFOR had not
provided Pakrac with the water supplies from the water pump at
Sumetlica, which the Serbs from UNPA North turned off.
Mr. Delac expressed satisfaction that UNPROFOR had promised
to guarantee security to busses driving along the Pakrac-Pozega
road.
