ZAGREB, June 14 (Hina) - The industrial output in Croatia increased
by 2.6 percent in May, said a preliminary report of the State
Institute for Statistics. According to the same report, the
industrial output dropped by 4.7 percent from May last year, while
the January-to-May output dropped 7 percent from last year.
In the same period (January to May) nine industrial branches
registered a increase from last year, ranging from the production
of non-metallic minerals (17.6 percent) to the tobacco industry
(10.3 percent) and basic chemical products (7.2 percent).
Engineering industry and shipbuilding registered the largest
decrease (30.5 and 24 percent respectively).
