ROME, June 5 (Hina) - "During the war in Bosnia Serb committed
genocide, as said in the language of law," the Rome-based paper
"Repubblica" published today in an article written by its
correspondent from New York. This was concluded on the grounds of
reports on the war in B-H made by five judges at the U.N. request.
The chairman of the commission on preparation of reports, Cheric
Bassiouni, U.S. law professor, had already delivered the reports to
the U.N. Secretary-General. The "Repubblica" corespondent from
Washington underlined that proof on genocide committed by Serb was
solid that no court could refute it.
"The report comprises 65,000 pages of documents, testimony
and statements, 300 hours of video-tapes confirming that the Serb
army has systematically carried out ethnical cleansing and rapes."
The article pointed out that such acts of crime were not only
concomitants of the brutal war but the planned strategies of the
Serb army's commanders and its leader Radovan Karadzic.
Among many examples stated in the report the article quoted
the case of the town of Prijedor (northwestern Bosnia) from which
Serbs had exiled 52,811 Moslems and Croats since April 1992. In the
conclusion of the article the journalists wrote that the proof on
the genocide committed by Serbs was irrefutable, but he wondered
whether the world would be willing to punish Serbs for such crime.
