SUBOTICA, June 1 (Hina) - The main door of the Franciscan church in
Subotica was mined at 4 a.m. Wednesday.
The Democratic Union of Croats in Vojvodina lodged a protest
with the government of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia saying
that perpetrators of such acts have been encouraged by the fact
that the authorities have take no action against them.
Subotica is a town in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, which
was stripped of its high-degree autonomy, granted in the former
Yugoslavia, by Serbian president Milosevic. Vojvodina was a part of
Austria-Hungary until 1918. The Hungarian, Croatian and other
ethnic minorities live there. Serbs immigrated in Vojvodina in
1679.
